Terms
The terms, in plain language.
Updated August 30, 2026. If anything here is unclear, email us and a person will explain it.
Who we are
The Portrait Keeper restores damaged photographs. We operate from Los Angeles, California, and serve customers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. All prices are in US dollars. Reach us at hello@theportraitkeeper.com.
How the service works
- You send us a photo of your photo. A real person looks at it for free and tells you honestly what can and cannot come back.
- You pay only if you decide to go ahead. Prices are shown before you pay: by damage level, plus optional 24-hour rush and The Selects.
- You see the restored photo before it is final, and changes are free until it is right.
- Finished files are delivered by email, only to the address used at checkout.
Your promise to us
- The photo is yours to restore: you own it, or it belongs to your family and you have their blessing.
- Some photographs, especially old professional studio portraits, are copyrighted by the studio that took them. By ordering, you confirm you have the right to have the photo restored. If a photo looks like it may be a problem, we will say so before any money moves.
- We may decline any job, and if we decline after payment you receive a full refund.
Our promises to you
- We never invent a face. If a face cannot be recovered from the photograph itself, we tell you the truth instead of guessing.
- A human compares every restored face to your original before delivery.
- Love it or every dollar back. The full promise lives on our refund page and it is part of these terms.
The boring but necessary part
- Restoration is honest handwork on what survives in your photograph. Results depend on the photo. What we promise is our process, our honesty, and the refund promise above.
- Our total responsibility to you is capped at the amount you paid us for the order. Please never mail us your only original print; we work from the picture you send.
- You keep all rights to your photo. We claim nothing.
- If something goes wrong, talk to us first. We fix it or refund it. These terms are governed by California law.
- If we change these terms, the new version is posted here with a new date.
